Last of Summer Days

Ah, Sunday morning! Quiet, peaceful, and a light rain falling!

We now have everything in working order and are ready to go forward. Page walked down to Camden Town yesterday and bought several bottles of nice wine from a shop that gives free delivery (since everyone walks, it isn’t really easy to carry bottles). Nice touch! Our computers are up and running at each of our desks. His is in the guestroom and mine is in our bedroom. This blog is organized and I think I know what I am doing! FaceTime works! I did some laundry and used the oven so became reacquainted with Celsius temperatures. Flat screen TV on our living room wall doesn’t have CNN International so we found a chord and hooked up our iPad so we can watch NBC Nightly News (a day later – don’t know why that is) just like we did in Vienna, Austria, four years ago. Oh, and Netflix works! Watching BBC News the other night, there was a commercial for a new program starting this fall – “Muslim Drag Queens, Monday nights at 8:00” – oh, goody! Can’t wait to tune in to that show!

Ten of our twelve students arrived today at various times. Courtney put out a bowl of fruit and Page ordered pizza for the whole house. Jet lag has gotten to some of them, but most are not napping after their overnight flights. Our kids come from MN, NH, CA, MA, KY, VA IN, CT, NJ, NC & GA.

Now it is Monday evening and all is settling down for the night. Cool and rainy again, the last of the students arrived and Courtney took them all to grocery shop, to buy cell phones, and to get their Oyster cards for transportation. Ironically, the tube is going on strike for the rest of the week starting tomorrow! Page and I had lunch at a café on England’s Lane before running errands and picking up a few items in Tesco. We met the locksmith who secured our private outside door and Kevin, the plumber, who is replacing our garbage disposal. Too many doorbells in this house to remember which door to answer!
